Half-Load Season Restrictions in Effect

Notice to Huron East Residents

Starting March 1st until April 30th, the Municipality of Huron East will be enforcing half-load restrictions on all designated roads to protect our infrastructure during the spring thaw when roads are most vulnerable to damage.

Details of the Restrictions:

Maximum Load Limit: 5 tonnes per axle
Applies to: All municipal roads unless otherwise posted

Please be advised that in accordance with O Reg 239/2 Minimum Maintenance Standards for Municipal Highways a Significant Weather Event which was declared in Huron East starting at 2025-02-17 at 2:00 PM is now being declared as over as of 2025-02-20 at 10:00 AM.

Weather Disruption - Bluewater Recycling Association

Due to inclement weather and road conditions, Bluewater Recycling Association has rescheduled garbage and recycling collection for Huron East.

Please be advised that if your collection day is usually Wednesday, it has been rescheduled to Saturday, February 22nd.

If your collection day is Thursday or Friday, pick up is unchanged.

Notice of Office Closure Due to Inclement Weather

Huron East, February 18, 2025 – Due to severe weather and road conditions, the Huron East municipal office will be closed today, February 18, 2024. Safety is our top priority, and we want to ensure both our team and the community are safe during this weather event.

Although the physical office will be closed, staff members will be reachable through email and telephone to continue providing essential services and support.

Significant Weather Event Declared - February 17, 2025

Effective February 17, 2025 at 2:00 p.m.—The Municipality of Huron East has declared a significant weather event under O. Reg. 239/02: Minimum Maintenance Standards for Municipal Highways due to current and forecasted conditions. This declaration will remain in effect until further notice.

During this event, municipal roads and sidewalks are considered to be in a state of repair. Anyone using Huron East roads is advised to avoid unnecessary travel and use caution if doing so.
